Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Jamie C — 16 Aug 2016
I told my friend I'd seen this film and he said is it like Death Wish? The answer is yep, kind of. Harry Brown is a much more gritty version though with a view of inner city London that can only be described as extremely depressing.
Michael Caine is excellent and delivers what I've grown to expect from him and is very believable but it's the supporting actors that play the thugs that grabbed my attention. I hated them all,Plan B especially, testimony to just how good the acting was.
It's much more violent than I expected and I enjoyed the clinical way Harry despatches various drug dealers and hoodies but still manages to look like an o.a.p. My favourite part however was a line delivered in true Caine fashion as he whacks a particularly nasty drug dealer,"You should have called an ambulance for the girl" says Harry,he was not wrong.
