Review of Halloween II (1981) by Al M — 10 Dec 2010
Halloween II is a solid follow-up to John Carpenter's classic original film. Unlike most sequels, Halloween II picks up exactly where the first film left off and even replays the last moments of the first Halloween to reacquaint the audience with the storyline.
The action this time follows Laurie Strode as she is moved to a hospital that soon becomes terrorized by Michael Myers. We also begin to learn some of important background imformation on the characters.
While these sequel never features anything overly original or as stylish as the original, it still manages to deliver on the scares, creepiness, and comedy in a way that seems like a natural outgrowth of Carpenter's classic.
In my opinion, Halloween II is the last of the original Halloween series (not counting Rob Zombie's remakes) concerning Michael Myers that is any good. Halloween III is truly awesome, but it has nothing to do with the rest of the series.
