Review of Halloween II (1981) by Max B — 24 Sep 2018
Although Halloween II isn't anything TOO special, it marks a genre rarity as it holds up quite well alongside its predecessor. The mood of the original is kept quite well, the suspense roars in its best scenes, and the amped-up gore,while in one aspect clashes with the minimalistic efforts seen before,is a nice touch for slasher fans.
The fantastic Carpenter's score is beefed as well, synth-heavy and brooding, creating a tense and fearful ambience whenever it rears its head. Halloween II is, overall, a solid sequel in a series full of flops, and deserves its status as a classic alongside the terrifying original.
Lightning never strikes in the same place, but this comes damn close.
