Review of Hairspray (1988) by Ken S — 06 Sep 2011

I believe that this was the first Waters film I had ever watched in my youth, most likely on television a few years after it was in theaters, so you can imagine my puzzled attitude when I heard people talk about how wild his films are, as this is almost Sesame Street compared to something like Desperate Living.

Still holds up on a re-watch as a lot of fun, this one is well worth your time.

I suppose I need to get around to seeing the version with Travolta in drag, but for several reasons the idea just doesn't really grab me.
