Review of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) by Paul J — 23 Jun 2012
This movie might feel terribly dated at times but the performances save it. It capitalized on the civil rights movement and Sidney Poitier was a major star. It's also heart-breaking to see Hepburn and Tracy in their final movie together.
They were deeply in love and he was dying while making the movie. His final speech is practically his final moment on film. Hepburn is understandably an emotional wreck. Its message is beautiful (if a little "on the nose") and it's clearly a film of its time.
Definitely watch it with 60s goggles on, otherwise, it's too dated. Poitier rules.
