Review of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) by Ben C — 14 Jul 2015
An emotional film that deals with the racial tones remarkably well, even after 46 years. All four stars (Tracy, in his final film, Hepburn, Poitier and debuting Houghton) deliver an A-list performance, with supporting cast members including Roots star Beah Richards, Roy E.
Glenn, and The Jeffersons star Isabel Sandford. While it is written around long monologues, hence making it more of a drama than a comedy, it uses the time it has to deliver a series of memorable lines in the movie.
And Spencer Tracy's final scene with the two families and Tillie will be one of the most memorable endings for a film that you have to see to believe.
