Review of Gregory's Girl (1980) by Barry L — 22 Aug 2007
When I see the words 'romantic' and 'comedy' together I start to feel nauseous but this gritty British film from the early eighties triumphs where others fail miserably.
Instead of creating a romantic fairytale scenario, Gregory's Girl focuses on the, often hilarious, bittersweet drama of teenage love and lust.
It is refreshing to recall a time when teenagers weren't obsessed with mobile phones and MP3 players.
