Review of GoodFellas (1990) by Derrick T — 11 Jan 2013
The first time I seen Goodfellas I was in shock from the brutality and sheer realisim of the film itself, from the start of the film you see a man get stabbed and shot in the trunk of a car, and the first thing that ran through my head was this is based on a true story.
...Most movie violence I can shake off because I know it's not real but this film made me cringe at parts. Strangely after that I wanted to watch the movie over and over again, and I still often do, to the point where I say the lines along with the charcters as their saying them, and the film has many funny parts that, I have to wonder if Scorsese himself meant for it to be somewhat funny in a serious film.
After watching Goodfellas you might not want to be a gangster but you certainly can live vicariously through Henry HIll's lifestlye.
