Terrifying, entertaining, chilling and shocking - all in equal measure. Whilst I knew, to at least a certain degree, of the utter weirdness of this infamous cult, Going Clear still proved to be endlessly intriguing, unwrapping and deconstructing the utterly ludicrous nature of this 'religion'.

Detailing its humble beginnings, its celebrity following and the darkness that is contained beneath the surface-level ridiculousness, this is a comprehensive documentary, providing a small but valuable insight into the psychology of this insane following, as well as widening its scope to give a greater examination of religion in general, prompting very real questions as to whether or not Scientology contains much more lunacy than other religions.

Despite the relatively well-covered subject matter, this is a documentary rich in insight and information that's engagingly brilliant throughout and leaves you with a unshakable chill and dozens of questions.
