Review of Give 'em Hell, Malone (2009) by Mark N — 29 Mar 2012
Struggles horribly to be neo-noir and while having all the elements it fails to execute any of them with finesse leaving a kitschy hard-boiled detective story feeling amateurish. Instead of inspiration it feels like cliche.
Doug Hutchison comes off a poor mans version of Ledger's Joker while Jane's accent is wooden and distracting (Both these guys were in different The Punisher movies). The only highlight is French Stewart as an amusingly bad crooner and seems to really enjoy the awfulness of his role.
