Review of Gilda (1946) by Nate W — 19 Jun 2009
"Gilda" features a strong script, smart visuals, and best of all, Rita Hayworth! She does indeed sizzle in this movie, so much so that director Charles Vidor has no reservations about letting the camera focus on her while other characters are talking, and you can hardly blame him.
But to simply call this Hayworth's film wouldn't be fair to the other players, all of whom are stellar. Glenn Ford is particularly great, walking the fine line between his hatred and lust for Hayworth's seductive siren.
