Review of Gettysburg (1993) by Max — 23 Jun 2009
Gettysburg, when one hears the name they think of death, violence, gore, and where two dreams met and one was destroyed. But one does not think of soldiers talking you're ear off about the battles that happend that day, even though the film is supposed to be showing us what happened on those three days.
It starts out very good and interesting, and the battle scenes are incredible, if there was blood in this movie they'd almost seem real. The reenactors and props are great. And Jeff Daniels performance of Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain is amazing.
But.... the movie for the most part is accurate, but it only shows about 40% of the acctual battle of Gettysburg. And the characters (mainly the Confederate) have a habit of talking about stuff when the movie would have been better if they showed the stuff.
Over all it was good after this movie you could write a decent report on the battle of Gettysburg.
