Review of Get Carter (1971) by Ben G — 06 Sep 2007
My favorite British made film of all time. This shows and marks the end of the sugar coated sixties and shows it for what it really was. That?s right not everyone had larva lamps and fantastic pads with plastic bubble furniture with an e-type jag in the garage.
Based on the novel by Ted Lewis (Jacks return home) this is a film that is bleak and gritty in vision, black and sarcastic in humor, with a cool yet sad soundtrack composed by the late Roy Budd. Which I think deserves a special mention; Roy I think was one of Britons best cult film music composers, whose acclaim and legacy is not recognised enough, he composed exciting funky sinister crime Jazz.
The film from beginning to end is a tour de force film of betrayal, revenge, guilt and justice.
