"Get Carter" gives Michael Caine a chance to have some fun with his character. He's savage, brutal, and rough around the edges, but there's a real person underneath it all. This isn't just a film about a guy going around and kicking ass (like the less-than-stellar remake starring Sly Stallone).
No, there's more to it than that. There are great performances, an intriguing story, and fine direction from the always solid Mike Hodges. In the end, "Get Carter" is a very cool film.
