Review of Gentleman's Agreement (1947) by Raelene S — 13 Feb 2008
Almost like watching an educational video... something outta R.E. classes from secondary school! I couldn't rate this as more than a 3 although it's good because I think it was a bit immature. I can understand the scene at the hotel.
.. where they refused phil green (pecks character) a room but the part where his girlfriend is talking to his jewish mate about a joke at the dinner table. to wanna speak out about that is a little over-zealous! now I aint racist, but I aint politically correct.
I know what a joke is and I know what serious is. almost makes me think the writer of this movie took everything seriously and didn't have a sense of humour. what about all the englishman, scotsman and irishman jokes? they're jokes!!! fook me! anyway, i've had my lil' rant now and quietened down.
the film in itself was okay despite the aforementioned fault. I thought pecks acting was top notch and the rest of the cast supported him to a high standard. it wasn't boring at all.
