Review of Gangster No. 1 (2000) by Brendan O — 12 Feb 2009
I DVR'd this stylish British flick from IFC on a whim, and it turned out to be a surprisingly watchable London thugland story set in the 60's. The dialogue is deeply malevolent - actually more gratuitous than the violence - but it's the performances of Malcolm McDowell and Paul Bettany playing the same old and young psychopath villain who make this a cut considerably above the rest.
Recommended.
