DVD First Viewing, 1 Bujalski film seen.

And I thought Me and You and Everyone We Know won the prize for quirky indie film of the year. Well, screw that! Funny Ha Ha takes the cake (and eats it too). I rented this film because of its premise. A recent college graduate tries to start a life for herself but just does all the same things she did in college - drinking all the time, failed relationships, etc.

It's not a revolutionary idea for a story, but I do believe that too many college kids think their bodies turn off for four years. I also think they believe that once college is over their alcoholism and party attitude will just disappear. They are wrong, and so was Andrew Bujalski in his depiction of these people. The NoHo indie film festival may have granted him with the "director to watch" award, but I think I will purposely avoid his next film Mutual Appreciation.

Bujalski tries to capture the wit and "umms" in everyday life. Most critics think he did a wonderful job. I disagree. The performances in this film are so annoying and terrible that it may make you hate knowing you share the same world as people like these.

Not Funny Ha Ha, Funny No No...
