Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by Steve H — 01 Jun 2006
I wanted to REALLY like this movie, and ended up just liking it. The famous scene on the cover is a disappointment for how classic it is said to be. the movie was powerful, but it was very apparent that the censures of the day lessened the heavy hitting source material.
Frank Sinatra gives a career defining performance, and the story is very powerful. The technical aspects were the weaker aspects, but the film is not a disappointment.
