Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by Lucia S — 26 Feb 2008
The flushing out of Pewitt's character is what surprised me the most. Clift and Sinatra are heart breaking as misguided men who just want to do right by their own baffling (to some) code of ethics.
Couple that with the strained affair between Warden and his commaders wife and you have a tenuous, morally questionable series of events all leading up to of course, the horrific attack on Pearl Harbour.
..fantastic - the film has got it all.
