Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by Clarry M — 21 Nov 2008
Enjoyable pre-"soap opera" film. Great acting from the leads. Hard to believe that its from the same novelist that wrote "The Thin Red Line". But I can see Hollywood glossing over the adulterous nature of the movie and Montogomery Clift's girlfriend being a prostitute.
I suspect it was shocking at the time. And it must have been brave so near to the end of WW2 to portray some servicemen as nothing but bullies and psychos.
