Review of Freeheld (2015) by Drew M — 27 Feb 2016
Truly touching but a heartbreaking film! This is a very powerful story, about a female-cop who finds the love of her life and has a happy life until she finds out she has cancer and is dying. Before she goes she wants her partner to have her pension, but the county officials are denying her request.
It then turns into a war and they fight to the end. The dialogue is not strong with its inspiration, but the performances of Julianne Moore and Ellen Page make up for it. Michael Shannon and Steve Carell also deliver fun loving supportive performances.
Although a very sad film, it's reasonably well done with an adequate script. I don't understand why Julianne Moore or Ellen Page got zero award attention, cause they deserve it. My grade=87%(B+).
