Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Matthew S — 07 Mar 2015
Well-crafted but oddly distant film from Bennett Miller. Worth a look, but not comparable to this director's previous work. Carell gives a solid performance, but this is really more about the amazing make-up than his own work.
Tatum's performance is solid as well, but he essentially is stuck with only three emotions: angry, sad and confused. At the end of it all, Ruffalo is the only actor who has much to do. Exceptional cinematography.
