Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Michael G — 29 Mar 2015
I'm wondering if I watched the same movie as everyone else. This movie was terrible. Slathering actors in unbelievable prosthetics that force them to mumble and never speak above a whisper is not great acting.
The soundtrack is terrible, completely unrelated to the film's subject and oddly placed. Ambient noise is not a sin. The cinematography was boring beyond belief - how many center framed subjects are we forced to sit through? The action filming is some of the worst in history - how they could take a dynamic, exciting sport like wrestling and make it less interesting than golf is beyond comprehension.
The storytelling is lame, characters are never developed, the most interesting person in the whole story is Dave's wife, and she had literally 3 lines and 2 minutes of screen time. The sound made me want to throw things at the screen.
And not for nothing, but every one of these so-called 'positive' critics reviews contain some really backhanded insults, so I know I'm not alone in thinking that this movies sucked.
