Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Brandon W — 23 Feb 2016
So after Moneyball, I was curious to see what Bennett Miller is going to do next, and with Foxcatcher which is his next film, it went back to the dark tone that his first feature film Capote is kind of like.
So for Foxcatcher, it is a very interesting movie. Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo give out great performances, and Steve Carell gives out one of his best drama acting in his career. Carell gives out a convincing voice that would make sense why would the characters would go with him, and he also gives in some chilling moments that are a bit unsettling at times.
The characters are memorable, and the film felt like it's going to Du Pont's psyche that knows what the vision is, and it understands why the character would do those actions, good or bad. The writing by E.
May Frye and Dan Futterman is well written and they try to make the film very interesting out of the grim tone that the movie has which is good. The score is really catchy and kind of effectively at times that made me figure that something bad is going to happen.
Foxcatcher has a great story that is told effectively well and gives out a bit of a haunting ending.
