Review of For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) by Josh G — 22 Apr 2008
Yet another anti-fundamentalist Christian doc, among many, really. Yet for, obviously, good reason.
This one concentrates on the issue of homosexuality, and how the Bible regards it. Or rather, how people *interpret* what it's saying. Typical fundamentalist mentality really, so this is familiar territory for me. Overall, it's a good doc regardless, and it's highly recommended for any body who is anti-gay on the basis of scripture.
The doc makes many good arguments, while some catering to people's emotions, there's a 'cute' little cartoon presenting the scientific data on "Choice vs. Biology". The research being quoted, I question greatly, but that's a whole other conversation.
The doc is heavily biased, but that really doesn't take away from the film. To put it into a more simple perspective, calling the film bias would be akin to calling people who say the sky is blue 'biased'.
Considering how idiotic and inane arguments the 'anti-gay' fundamentalists bring up, pointing out the film's bias is a moot point.
I recommend this movie to everyone, if just to remind them that: Yes, there really ARE people like that in the world, scary huh.
