Wow. This film is one of the most poignant films I have ever seen.

Coming from a guy who has a gay family member, this is some really powerful stuff. Well, of course I do like religion and I don't want it to die, but this documentary kind of proves Bill Maher right: religion needs a lot of much-needed repairs, most notably the ones that we attempted to fix back in the tent revival days.

I knew that even before this documentary that gays weren't these monsters hellbent on trying to destroy our families just so they can troll God - knowing several LGBT people myself, from atheist buddies to film professors, gays aren't demonically possessed or psycho like Walter Sobchak. However, I didn't really know that "abomination" in the Bible was actually a term used in the Bible solely meant to forbid something in the early Jewish world. It did confirm my suspicions that Lev. 18:22 was pretty much a Malthusian check mainly because the state of Israel was really small.

However, why do people cry out against something as harmless as homosexuality? How is it "bad"? Yeah, in our sense (and for 500 years), Sodom and Gomorrah were gay and therefore, God bombed it with his collection of pristine A-bombs. However, I believe the "hospitality" thing more. After all, Sodom was ragging onto Lot because he gave these two strangers a meal. And besides,"Love Wins Over" therapy is stupid anyhoo. And besides, nobody's trying to kill anybody up here in Dahlonega. I guess we're just a progressive college town. And to those cuh-razy fundies, we worship the Dude and we watch R-rated bloodfests. Also, we voted for Obama, but who cares? If Herman Sugar Cain would stop ragging on about how he hates gays or something, then I'd support his 9-9-9 plan. It seems decent to build up the economy again, but at the same time, the economy doesn't look terrible. Nobody's posting articles on America being sold to Britain and Damon Albarn becoming our new president.
