Review of For a Few Dollars More (1965) by John A — 16 Aug 2009
Quite an improvement over Fistful, largely due to the more comic tone and the presence of Lee Van Cleef. The early scenes of Eastwood and Van Cleef interacting with the bad guys and each other are deliciously comic> Leone's use of the extreme close-up on the eyes of his characters both ratchets up the tension and provides some comic relief because it is so over-the-top melodramatic.
The story doesn't always make sense, but who cares. This is just good fun.
