Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Deneive T — 04 Jan 2009
The classic thriller that created a whole new metaphor for a stalker-The bunny boiler. Although in the film it is far from a metaphor. It is hard to believe that this phrase only began 22 years ago. The particular scene in the film, tension created by the fantastic pacing and editing really had my heart beating fast that I swear it almost came out my mouth. Other moments had very similar effects too, such as the terrific climax.
The acting was absouloutly outstanding. Michael Douglas is one of the most under rated actors of all time. I admired his performance a lot. But is was Glenn Close as the twisted stalker who was the best. I believed every part of her obsessivness and she more than succesfully created one of the most powerful, frightening and unforgettable villains of all time.
The pacing is remarkable and the tension rises to almost unbearable heights and hardly gives your heart a rest from the beatings it does throughout this film.
A film that managed to make its way into pop culture, giving us all a crazy villian to remember as one of the best in cinema and it truly deserves the cult status it has.
