Review of Fanny and Alexander (1982) by John A — 09 May 2011
An enjoyable enough film, even if it is dauntingly long. a challenging drama that deals with a variety of themes. being a Bergman film, obviously there will be elements of religion, but there also things like the differences between rich and poor, familial and romantic relationships, and how all these things affect societal standing.
there's also a touch of magic and the surreal, which fits the mood nicely. a wonderful memory piece. confusing and slow-paced at times, but nonetheless a worthwhile experience.
