Review of Fanny and Alexander (1982) by William W — 06 Oct 2014
The polar opposite of his terrifying Magnum Opus Persona, this is arguably the warmest and most accessible (yet no less affecting) work of Ingmar Bergman's illustrious career. Like a Grimm's fairytale, it is a wondrous and imaginative film that is unafraid of being colored by the occasional shades of darkness, especially when it comes to depicting the titular character's trials and tribulations.
