Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Ben D — 10 Apr 2012
This gets a bad rep. I think it's because it followed such an amazing career in the cinema for Stanley Kubrick that it could only ever be disappointing to his fans. Yet, there really is something here, and I think once Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman fade a little from the limelight, this film will be evaulated again and recognised that it has moments of sublime beauty and terror, and has Kubrick - lessened, admittedly - acting close to the top of his game.
