It's not perfect, but there is a lot going on here that requires multiple viewings to appreciate. It's also an aesthetic masterpiece, and shows how much work Kubrick puts into every scene. Nicole Kidman is spot on in her role, but Cruise is distracting with some ameturish acting.
There is a lot left to interpretation and that's what movies should be about.
