Review of Evil Angels (1988) by Tim M — 24 Aug 2009
Set in Australia and based on true events, this film captures the heart and tells a true story in a respectful and endearing way. Streep and Neil give excellent performances as the parents who lose their baby in the outback only to be charged with murder.
The courtroom scenes are well done and focus on facts without being to overbearing and the film shows how their lives change so drastically during the course of events. The film does a good job of showing the impact the event had on the whole country of Australia too and the way that the public was torn on whether they were guilty or not, and the way the media distorts, changes, and implies things to the public (something they still do today unfortunately).
Good music, cinematography, and direction add to the impact and effect of the film.
