Review of Evil Angels (1988) by Jack W — 14 Apr 2010
Just another in the long list of masterful performances by Meryl Streep, quite simply the best actress we have ever known. Also giving a great performance is Sam Neill and I think Streep must be like a great athlete in that she elevates the performances of others around her.
The true strength of this film is the commentary it presents upon the court of public opinion. Much like a later film in her career, Doubt, the film skewers those which make uninformed decisions and the consequences that result.
Amazingly this trial was sort of a pre-cursor to our own trial of the century with OJ Simpson. The parallels are remarkable.
