Review of Escape from Tomorrow (2013) by Will B — 29 Apr 2014
There is a lot of mixed feelings on this. When I first heard about this movie I was excited and curious. Here is a movie that defies logic and meaning from everything to the story and to the making of it. This movie literally should not exist.
There are many flaws, of course. It is a very independent feature that had to be done on very different ways than that of traditional movies of any matter. Where the flaws are, though, add to the feel of this mind flip of a film. The acting isn't the best if the best but for conditions of having to be filmed it actually added to the believability of the characters and the chaos that ensues with this real but fantasy world.
Technically there are not many effects on the film. Mostly there is basic 2D effects and green screen effects. The green screen moments are obvious, but needed given that the certain scenes would have been troublesome to do in the parks.
Overall, this movie is a must watch. Hate it or love it, it is something to be seen to be believed. It's like a ghost, you won't believe it till you see it. It is something that should be discussed with friends and to assess what they think is the true meaning of it all.
