The people who don't like this fall mostly into two categories:
They only think movies have value if they follow known set-pieces, or they only think movies have value if they're depressing. Unfortunately, it is these people who are the most likely to write reviews of films; those with the greatest need to make sure their opinions are heard.
The Men Who Stare at Goats is a great movie. It is unique. It is more true than such examples as The Social Network or Lincoln, and more interesting as well. It tells its story well and deserves more praise than it got.
