Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Caleb M — 11 Oct 2009
Fascinating film, the best I can describe it as a religious experience. Herzog really finds the most amazing things to make documentaries out of, and does it in grand style. The soundtrack to this movie was spell-binding.
To elaborate, I feel this film is also a great testament to the awe-inspiring religiosity in nature and the universe. All the times we hear about how everything is in chaos, how there is no order...and while that may still be true, this is a very in-depth look at the flip side of the coin. Some things just look like something not even the greatest artist on Earth can conceive - most probably that the "artist", if there was one, is not from this world.
