Review of Emperor (2012) by Mike F — 10 Mar 2013
A well executed and historically accurate docudrama set in the days just after World War 2 at the start of the Japanese occupation I can strongly recommend this movie. It's worth noting that the romantic subplot is more about dealing with the loss of love then falling in love itself.
Performance wise Tommy Lee Jones knocks it out of the park as MacArthur, and while I have strong opinions about the general, Jones makes him surprisingly likeable. Ignore the critics and give Emperor a go.
