Review of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988) by Mark N — 14 Apr 2012
Campy, vampy fun of the best variety. If you like Rocky Horror (she would later hire O'Brien to co-star in this movies follow-up) you might get a kick out of this round the bend tale of a tv hostess and her inheritance of a creepy mansion. Within moments of her arrival in a sleep town she raises the ire of the stuffy parents who believe her to be corrupting their youth.
One of my absolute favorite 80's movies. Peterson does self-aware camp comedy to a tee. the plot is semi predictable but the characters are so likable and revel in the ridiculous plot to an extent you can't help get carried away with them.
