Review of You Never Can Tell (1951) by Sherry L — 28 Oct 2010
Tremendously entertaining but rather unknown comedy with Dick Powell and Peggy Dow.
Peggy plays the secretary of a extremly wealthy german shepherd, called King(yeah, you see, the dog inherited the money from his very rich but diseased master). Suddenly one day, out of nowhere, a man named Perry attends to the state, claiming that he is a good friend of King, who knew each other during the war. But this man (who was rather an old enemy of King) is only after King's money, and plans to marry the secretary who will inherit King's money after King's death (which Perry intends to hasten).
King, after being killed and hearing that his beloved secretary is being wrongfully accused of the murder of him (and therefor she won't be able to inherit the money), he is allowed to return to earth for 24 hours, to get the chance to frame the killer with the help of a deseased racing horse.
So King, reincarniated as Detective Rex Shepard(haha), played by Dick Powell, accompanied by Goldie (the reincarnated racing horse) are doing their best to get close to the secretary and reveal the truth.
Very funny movie, in a silly way.
