Review of Elizabeth Blue (2017) by Tessa P — 03 Oct 2017
I have to start off by venting for a moment. This year I am lucky enough to be on the SAG Nominating Committee and it is a privilege from SAG. I been a member for 8 years now.
I was invited to this screening and attended last Thursday in Los Angeles.
Being in the business, when your invited to a screening you never know what your walking into.
I was stunned! Elizabeth Blue is an eye opening experience into mental health and a beautiful work of cinema. It is Directed by first time feature filmmaker Vincent Sabella and it stars Anna Schafer. following the film was Q&A Producer Joe Dain also joined them on stage.
Let me say as an actress I hope one day I am lucky enough to work with a filmmaker like Mr.Sabella.
Not just for his art of Storytelling and genius directing, That he explained is mostly done before his cast ever steps foot onto the set.
But also for the tremendous support and attention he was giving to his actress. I have never heard a filmmaker so early on in their career speak of the talent the way he did.
In return Ms. Schafer did the same about Mr. Sabella. As I sat and listened I became aware that a friendship had formed and they were cheering each other on. That was just wonderful from an actors perspective.
I also realized I had seen Ms. Schafer before on some low rent LifeTime movie of the week that I audition for. (I am so happy I did not get it after seeing how it turned out) The point I'm trying to make is when you have beautiful material and a director you trust, the sky is the limit for the performance you can give.
Anna Schafer you have my vote. Mr. Sabella I look forward to more of your work and one day to work with you.
Elizabeth blue is a must see film that is not to be missed. Congratulations on Job well done.
