Review of Elizabeth Blue (2017) by Laura L — 15 Oct 2017
Artfully crafted, visceral, and poignant. Elizabeth Blue combines the very real life struggle of mental illness with high art to create a film that allows a catharsis for those who have been diagnosed with mental illness, and gives understanding to those who have not.
As someone who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 17, this film helped me gain some much needed self acceptance, and even pride, in who I am. Thank You to Vincent Saballo for being brave enough to delvinto something so difficult and so personal.
Maybe this will help fight the stigma. Maybe it already is. And hopefully other talented directors with personal experience will follow Vincent's lead to fight the stigma.
