A living and breathing work of art which proves once again that Van Sant possesses a strong connection to young people and a sensitivity to their troubles like no other. Elephant is a provocative and poignant tale of a typical school that takes a violent turn.

Since there are no answers or strong perspectives on what exactly troubles American youth, the film doesnâ(TM)t get to the real heart of the matter. This unforgettable film possesses a duplicity unlike any other â" nothing happens but yet everything happens, nothing is stated but itâ(TM)s all so clear.

This is a powerful achievement that will generate discussion and divide audiences.
