Review of The Hours (2002) by Katherine P — 02 Jul 2011
A very heavy and compelling drama that respects it's source material and audience enough to allow us the pleasure of exploring new ideas without filtering such tremendous issues into simple lessons on morality.
There are few films that reach perfection in the areas of screenplay, art direction, and acting but the union of Daldry and Hare makes The Hours one of the best films of the last 20 years. We spend the entire film simply watching people talk to each other and yet the experience is so engrossing that we can't help but be transported into each of these women's lives.
The Hours is a bold and delicate story that will stay with you forever. And yes, Kidman's performance really is as great as you've heard.
