Review of Martyrs (2008) by Katherine P — 02 Jun 2011
Prepare yourself - this isn't a movie, it's an event. The entire cast and crew demonstrates bravery and skill, which is certainly required to make it through this film. Just as these women are tortured, so too is the audience and making it to the final credits without needing a bucket is a reward in itself.
Once again, France has turned out a deeply unsettling and thought provoking gore-fest. It's uncomfortable, bloody, and beautiful. Don't watch Martyrs, witness it.
