Review of Electroma (2006) by Jack B — 12 Mar 2009
People say it's low on content, but it contains all the content I need. Whether it was intentional or not, the film leaves it up to the viewer to fill in the blanks in terms of how deep the story goes. It went really deep for me. I had more sympathy and emotion for the two robot leads than I had for any character in Slum Dog Millionaire... and don't get me wrong, I loved Slum Dog Millionaire, but I really wasn't that dedicated to the well being of any of its characters.
If I made this film I wouldn't change a thing and I would be so fucking proud of it. It pretty much sums up my intentions for making films. It's simple, it's genre, but it takes itself seriously, it brought emotions out of me, it's beautiful and not a day has gone by since I saw it that I haven't thought about how much I want to watch it again.
