Review of Electroma (2006) by Daniel T — 29 Dec 2009
This is a "silent" film directed and photographed by Daft Punk. Being as there is no dialogue and therefore arguably no script the film relies purely on it's iconic properties to reveal its plot- that details two robots that dream of being different from their homogeneous culture and are punished accordingly for their aspirations.
It's slow moving but definitely not boring and despite claims to the contrary it's not really experimental. The images are not abstract. That means you can clearly identify what is photographed.
But it is touching and fabulous and the burning man conclusion is a reward well worth sticking around for.
