Review of Eighth Grade (2018) by William H — 26 Aug 2018
What is it like to be in Eighth Grade, which is about the trauma of being fourteen which is described as having "acute observations of adolescent (The New Yorker),has a heroine, Kayla going through her last week in this eponymous class.
Now it's true that the film incorporates the Internet, face book and that stuff into its editing, despite the hungry need for reviewers to find some film however slightly better than the junk we have been fed this summer to give a good review to; it is not anything more than a concoction of horrible teen dynamics, mixed together, may be reminding us of horrible things that happened to us.
But, the characters are false and have no human spirit-mechanical traps of episodic memories. Incidentally, half a month later when entertaining, I could not remember a thing about this movie, we had so repressed it.
