Review of The Sure Thing (1985) by Sarah O — 05 Feb 2011
Horrible. Poorly written, and diminishes women to nothing more than sex objects and women who crave the "bad boys." The characters, mainly Alison lack any real motivation, for the way she is written, there would be absolutely no way in hell she would fall for a guy as slimy as Gib.
Not only does this film portrays women in a bad light, but puts down men who don't drink and party and have sex with every woman they see, by calling them "wimps". There is absolutely no routing interest for Gib, and the character of Alison simply disappoints, for instead of her teaching Gib the value of knowledge she allows Gib to reduce her to his attitude towards life, and she flashes, drinks, and dumps her loving boyfriend.
This film is simply degrading to anyone with a brainstem.
