Review of Driving Miss Daisy (2015) by Blackity B — 11 Dec 2008
It's funny to see what passes for "best movie of the year" sometimes.
Driving Miss Daisy focuses on a nice little relationship, delivered by two fine performances, that fails to deliver any sort of conflict, tension, or even point to the story. Really, the entire movie could be contained on one script page. And as that, it would be fine, but an entire movie was completely pointless. The social commentary on racism it tries to sneak in is so toothless and bland it really is almost like an unnecessary distraction. A perfect example of how politics wins you Oscars.
